Seasonal Trends

According to RTW Collections fall/winter 2010/2011, by Mary Lou Luther,   ”If clothes are truly socio-economic indicators, the recession is really over and it’s OK to look rich again. This is the fall fashion mantra on both sides of the Atlantic”.

Fur is back! Fur scarves, fur hats, fur vests, fur, fur, fur. Fur was everywhere running down the runways at home and abroad.

Next is sparkle and bling. Sequins, crystals, metallics, and jewels, all walked down the runway. There is a “70’s meets 80’s sensibility.

At the opposite end of the spectrum are the polished and the reserved. This group will be wearing camel coats in double faced wool or cashmere, a plaid or tweed suit, knee hovering hemlines. You don’t have to go much further than to look at Ralph Lauren for the fall lineup. There is a feeling of polished yet approachable elegance at Bottega and Valentino and Hermes.

Camel is the color that will define the season. Olive green is another color that we will see pop this season in a military jacket or fatigues. Purple is reborn. Red is a go. Turquoise is the pick of the year color. Black is the new black, again!

Look for lots of leathers and plaids and velvet will rule the evening with lace abound.
